Morning sickness update

During my first pregnancy, starting at Week 7 until the beginning of Week 12, I had horrible terrible morning sickness. It was by far the WORST thing about pregnancy for me, and even though it only lasted for a month, I still have not forgotten how awful it was. I lost about 8 pounds during that first trimester due to the inability to eat anything other that weak miso soup and ice cold Carnation instant breakfast shakes. The nausea didn't end - I would wake up in the middle of the night with the spins and no home remedies or pharmaceuticals made a dent in the feeling.

So I've been dreading the return of morning sickness since even before we decided we would definitely try for another kiddo. I've been stocked up on ginger tea, miso, vegetable broth, peppermints, and saltine crackers, just in case it sneaks up on me. The weekend after we got the second line on the prego test, I made a dozen frozen meals for Wilson and Sam in anticipation of my inability to enter the kitchen for several weeks.

And now I'm here. I passed the day my morning sickness started in go-around #1 three days ago. Tonight, I made fish for dinner. Fish! And I'm still fine. Not 100%, mind you (random smells are grossing me out, and I've had the occasional nausea spell), but fine.

So I'm crossing my fingers for a mostly morning sickness free go-around #2. It could happen right?

  1. I spoke too soon. The house STILL smells like fish, I had to feed the neighbor's dog with canned dog food, and was unable to eat my breakfast this morning. Blech.
